Thunderstorms could make their way across Dorset over the weekend, according to the Met Office.

Heavy rain is due to hit parts of the southwest on Friday evening before temperatures are set to drop over the weekend with the possibility of thunder.

A spokesperson for the Met Office said: “Gradually the weather will become more unsettled over the weekend, with showers, some heavy and possibly thundery at times. Often cloudy and feeling chilly in brisk winds.”

Low pressure moving across the country is said to be causing the unsettled weather and cloudy skies.

The spokesperson warned that heavy rain would be ‘likely’ later on the Saturday and further rain on the Sunday.

Monday is set to see temperatures recover with possible sunny intervals; however, it will be windy at times.
