A woman pushed and tried to bite a community patrol officer 'just doing his job' outside of a train station.

Clare Fullarton, aged 37, pleaded guilty to assault by beating at Weymouth Magistrates Court on Thursday, April 25.

This happened at Weymouth Railway Station on King Street on December 15, 2023. This was also a breach of a previous conditional discharge for another assault by beating.

Tara Olney, prosecuting, said that the victim - one of Dorset Council's community safety patrol officers - saw a man and Fullarton having a verbal altercation outside the Weymouth Train Station.

When he spoke to the pair, Fullarton pushed him, attempted to bite him (though she failed), called him a 'c**t' and threatened to 'kick him in the f*****g balls'.

Ms Olney said: "Abuse of someone just doing their job, trying to assist the public."

The court heard that Fullarton had bought half a bottle of alcohol, and took other substances including crack, before buying another bottle.

Her partner confronted her outside the train station to tell her to stop and she got angry, leading to the incident.

Ms Olney told the court that in a police interview, Fullarton claimed she didn't know what happened, that she was trying to detox but had relapsed. She admitted she shouldn't have tried to detox without help.

The court heard there were children present in the area at the time of the incident.

Fullarton has two previous relevant convictions, including one in 2023, and another in 2015.

Simon Lacey, mitigating, said: "She's obviously pushed him. There is no evidence of any injury and she pleaded guilty at the first opportunity. It seems almost like a mental health episode.

"She is remorseful and shocked by what she said. She is medicated for anxiety and depression and is on anti-psychotics.

"She drank far too much, became suicidal and was arrested."

Mr Lacey added that Fullarton, of Regency Drive, Weymouth, is living full-time with her mother 'who is making sure she is taking her medication'.

The chair of the magistrate's bench, Helen Busby, sentenced Fullarton to a 12-month community order and ordered her to complete 25 rehabilitation activity requirement days. She has also been ordered to pay a fine of £50, a surcharge of £114 and compensation to the victim of £50.

There is no separate penalty for the breach of her previous community order.
