Many vulnerable people were helped over the bank holiday weekend thanks to a night time group.

The street pastors are a group of volunteers who provide support for night time revellers and anyone on the streets on Friday and Saturday nights – and an additional Sunday due to the bank holiday.

Over the weekend, Weymouth Street Pastors supported a young woman who became unwell, another woman who had fallen and injured her arm as well as a person with a facial wound.

The group also spoke with a number of men about the role of the street pastors, helped a man who was struggling to stay upright and felt unwell, as well as having a supportive conversation with a man about a recent bereavement.

Not only did the group provide medical attention, but they also handed out eight pairs of flip flops, 12 bottles of water and ‘too many lollipops to count.’

Additionally, they collected 11 discarded bottles, seven bottles and swept up four lots of smashed glass, as well as collecting more than 50 cans.
