A woman has died at a home in Weymouth after emergency services were alerted for a medical emergency.

Emergency services rushed to an address at Coombe Valley Road, Preston, yesterday after receiving a report of a woman requiring medical attention.

The fire service was called to help medics gain access to the property.

Police said the woman - aged in her 80s - was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Her death is not being treated as suspicious and her family has been notified. 

A spokesperson for Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue said: "A crew from Weymouth were called to Coombe Valley Road at 11.56am to gain access to a room within a property."

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: "Dorset Police received a report at 12.26pm on Tuesday 14 May 2024 of a woman requiring medical attention at an address in Coombe Valley Road in Weymouth.

"Officers attended to assist the fire and ambulance services. Very sadly, the woman – aged in her 80s – was pronounced dead at the scene.

"Her family are aware and HM Coroner has been notified. Her death is not being treated as suspicious.

"Our thoughts are with the woman who sadly died at this difficult time."
