Residents are being reminded that certain types of plastics cannot be put in council recycling bins.
Dorset Council's waste services department is reminding people that plastic wrappings, such as a salad bag, can't be put in their bins, this is because they cannot be processed through the machines used by waste disposal teams.
However, they can be recycled elsewhere, such as at supermarkets.
Residents are therefore being urged to recycle these types of plastics in store when they are out shopping.
A spokesperson for Dorset Council waste services said: "Plastic bags and plastic wrapping (e.g. salad bags) unfortunately can't be recycled in your recycling bin.
"This is because they stop the machinery working properly at our sorting facility.
"The good news is these items can be recycled at most supermarkets now."
