Thousands came out and enjoyed the sunshine as a popular festival returned to Weymouth.

SummerFest, run by the Weymouth Round Table, took over Redlands Leisure Centre on Saturday, June 8, and was yet again popular with punters.

The fields behind the sports centre were filled with live music, MMA wrestling, a football tournament, cheer dancers, vintage cars, fun fair rides and bouncy castles before rounding off with a firework display in the evening.

Funds raised from the event will go to the Weymouth RNLI and the event organisers were delighted with the turnout.

One of the organisers, Adam Luckhurst, said: "It's been absolutely superb.

"Two years ago it started out and a bit of a vision and we weren't quite sure what to expect for the second year - but we are near on capacity - we have a lot of happy faces and we are raising thousands of pounds for the local RNLI.

"Hopefully we can raise 25k plus this year and I will be over the moon."

As the sun beamed down on the fields visitors soaked up the atmosphere created by the live music stage.

Oliver and Esther took advantage of the comfy seated area which gave revellers an hour on a bean bag - accompanied with a glass of prosecco.

They said: "We are having a good time.

"Its good for Weymouth -  100 per cent - and it is nice to have something to do on a weekend off."

Lisa Bolton and Megan White enjoyed a portion of chips with their beers, with Lisa describing the event as 'lovely' and plans on coming again.

She said: "I didn't know about it last year, but there is something for everyone here and I would come again.

"It's good for the town and the timings are nice so people can come and go which I think brings more people in."
