Drugs were found when police stopped and searched a person acting in an antisocial manner on the seafront.

Police patrolling Brunswick Terrace last night located a group being antisocial. One member of the group was searched and a quantity of Class B drugs was allegedly found and seized.

The individual will attend a voluntary police interview in relation to the matter.

The group were moved on.

A spokesperson for Weymouth and Portland Police said: "Neighbourhood Policing Officers from the town centre team were patrolling the area of Brunswick Terrace last night as part of our 100 Days of Summer Campaign and located a group of individuals acting in an anti-social manner.

"Following checks on those involved one of the group was detained for a search under section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act, a quantity of Class B drugs was located on the individual and seized. The individual will be attending Weymouth Police Station for a voluntary interview in relation to the matter.

"Stop and search powers are a vital tool in assisting officers with proactively disrupting the use of drugs and our mission to help us get drugs off the streets.

"Moving forward safeguarding measures and referrals have been made to support the individual involved in an effort to steer them down a different path.

"The group were moved on from the area and out of the town centre."
