A Dorset hospital was impacted by a global IT outage.

Dorset County Hospital in Dorchester saw some of its administrative systems briefly impacted.

Fortunately, the clinical systems for patient care were not affected and after a short period of time everything returned to normal.

It comes as businesses, transport and health care services in the county were thrown into chaos after a worldwide IT outage.

A spokesperson for Dorset County Hospital said: “Our clinical systems for patient care were not affected by the global IT issues. Some of our administrative systems were briefly impacted but are now working normally.”

Other local healthcare services were also impacted, including Rowlands Pharmacy on Littlemoor Road, a notice inside read: "Microsoft is currently experiencing an IT Outage worldwide that is affecting some of our services.

"Our team is actively working to resolve this issue and we apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.”

Their services have since returned to normal as well.
