I refer to the recent article about traffic chaos after an accident on the Ridgeway.
They are talking of blocking off Dorchester Road at the Ridgeway once the new bypass is in place.
Did the authorities not learn from the shutting off of Jestys Avenue.
When there is an accident or roadworks near the traffic lights at the Littlemoor junction all the traffic gets diverted to Coombe Valley Road -and it is absolute chaos Now, if they had only put a gate or removable barriers at Jestys Avenue then the traffic could be put through to Littlemoor Road that way.
Although slow, the traffic could still have been kept moving.
Now, if they close off Dorchester Road completely and there is an accident on the new bypass, where are they going to direct the traffic.
Will it back down Coombe Valley Road when there is a perfectly good road going to waste.
A bypass is just that, but does not mean you cannot still utilise the road that it is bypassing.
