CHICKERELL is looking for members of the community to become a new town councillor.
The town council currently has four vacant positions - two for the Chickerell Village ward and two for the Charlestown and Littlesea ward.
Chickerell Town Council has provided some information on the role and is looking for someone who is "passionate about the local area".
A spokesperson for Chickerell Town Council said: "Becoming a councillor is both a rewarding and privileged form of public service.
"You will be in a position to make a difference to the quality of other people’s daily lives and prospects and to improve your local area.
"This is an exciting opportunity to become involved in a fast-growing town council that is non-political.
"You do not need any previous experience of being a councillor, but you will need to be passionate about your local area and dedicated to working as part of a team for the benefit of your residents.
"The town council holds its full council meeting once a month and has planning and staffing committees that meet when required.
"There are also several working groups covering subjects such as land management and neighbourhood planning.
"You will not need to be a member of every working party."
The spokesperson added: "The town council is responsible for several public open spaces, which it actively maintains. We also manage and upkeep the lawn cemetery, Willowbed Hall, and the Sports Pavilion.
"In recent years, we have completed various projects, including the development of the play area and MUGA, the acquisition of the Chickerell allotments, and the implementation of the Chickerell Neighbourhood Plan.
"With funding from Low Carbon Dorset, significant upgrades to Willowbed Hall are currently underway, along with a separately funded extension planned to accommodate our growing community.
"Following public consultation, additional projects focused on enhancing wildlife habitats, planting schemes, and installing outdoor gyms are also in progress.
If you feel that you may be interested in the position of town councillor, email townclerk@chickerell-tc.gov.uk and the Town Clerk will forward the relevant application form.
The closing date for completed applications is at 12pm on Wednesday, September 11.
