FRUSTRATED sculptor Robin Beuscher has thrown in the towel after years of toil and not a single sale or exhibition of his work.

The Dorset-based artist has decided to sell his entire life's work on auction website eBay because of his disillusionment with the modern art world.

Mr Beuscher said the final straw for him was to see a self-portrait, drawn in lipstick by supermodel Kate Moss, fetch £33,600 at auction in London.

Mr Beuscher, 61, said: "The only reason it sold at all was simply because her name was linked to it, and as a consequence, her supposed celebrity.

"The frustration has been created by the number of people who have seen my work, have praised its originality and creativity and yet I still cannot get either an exhibition of any description anywhere or even sell a piece."

Among the dozen or so artworks created by Mr Beuscher over the last ten years is one depicting a crucified Jesus, called I Am A Celebrity - Get Me Out Of Here, and another called Yummy Mummy which alludes to cosmetic surgery.

Mr Beuscher said: "I appreciate that my work is not the sort that your average person can hang up on his living room wall, but then again that applies to a large amount of art produced these days."

Mr Beuscher said he has been drawing and sculpting since his teens and moved to Swanage from London several years ago.

He said: "I think if you're an artistic person then it's a real inspiration to live in such a beautiful county."

He added that his art has been seen and complimented by representatives of The Saatchi contemporary art gallery in London but was never exhibited there. He works as a graphic designer to earn money.
