A man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence in Weymouth.
Police received a report at around 6.17pm on Tuesday, September 3 from a third party of a man reportedly seen in possession of a firearm at a home on Hardwick Street in the Weymouth Park District on Monday evening (September 2).
A BB gun was located following enquiries and a man in his 40s was arrested. He remains in police custody whilst enquiries continue.
A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: "Dorset Police received a report at 6.17pm on Tuesday, September 3 from a third party that a man had reportedly been seen in possession of a possible firearm at an address in Hardwick Street in Weymouth during the evening of Monday, September 2.
"Following enquiries, a BB gun was located and a local man aged in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of possessing of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence. He remains in police custody and enquiries into the matter are ongoing."
