This is a simple opportunity for people to send gifts to youngsters who otherwise would never receive anything at Christmas.

It is a Christian ministry run by Samaritans Purse International.

This organisation works with national churches and charities to deliver the gifts to hospitals, orphanages, refuge camps, homeless shelters and impoverished neighbourhoods across the globe.

The gifts consist of medium-sized shoeboxes attractively wrapped and filled with small gifts.

There are leaflets giving essential guidance on contents, correct labelling and the £2.50 donation towards administration.

These are available from Affpuddle church, Briantspuddle village shop or from Penny Haigh at Hazel Cottage, Briantspuddle.

The boxes will need to be delivered to Penny by November 10.
