A man has been arrested for 'acting aggressively' towards staff at Weymouth train station.

There are some delays to trains running from Weymouth due to 'disruptive passengers' this morning.

Officers from the British Transport Police attended the station at 9.28am and subsequently arrested a man.

Train services running from the station were delayed due to the incident, which South Western Railway (SWR) had described as an incident involving 'disruptive passengers'.

SWR said that disruption to its services from Weymouth would return to normal from 11am after the incident had involved some of its lines being blocked as trains were unable to leave.

A spokesperson for the British Transport Police said: “Officers were called to Weymouth railway station at around 9.28am today (September 12) following reports of a man acting aggressively towards railway staff.

"Officers attended and a man was arrested.”

South Western Railway also issued a statement at the time of the incident occurring and apologised to passengers for the inconvenience.

A spokesperson for SWR said: "We have been informed disruptive passengers at Weymouth.

"This means that some lines are blocked.

"For further information or onward travel advice please speak to a member of staff or use a station help point.

"We are very sorry for any delay that this may cause to your journey."
