Firearms and stolen tools have been seized following the arrest of a man by armed police in Weymouth.
There was a heavy police presence in the Boot Hill area of Weymouth this morning involving the shutting of roads and access points.
This was so police could arrest a man wanted for numerous offences including firearms, theft and violence against a person.
Neighbourhood police teams worked with officers from the firearms unit and local response, and the man was found hiding in a nearby property.
During a search of the property, three firearms were located amongst other weapons, as well as a large quantity of suspected stolen power tools.
The man remains in custody whilst police conduct their investigation.
A spokesperson for Weymouth & Portland Police said: "Locals in Weymouth, specifically the Boot Hill area, may have noticed a heavy police presence this morning, which involved the shutting off of roads and access points.
"Neighbourhood Policing Officers from Weymouth and Portland, working in tandem with Local Response Officers and Firearms Units attended an address in Weymouth this morning to conduct real-time arrest enquiries for an outstanding suspect wanted in relation to numerous offences.
"Following a containment one male was located in a nearby property hiding and arrested for several offences including but not limited to, firearms offences, theft-related offences and violence against a person offences.
"During a search of the address three firearms were located, amongst other weapons and a large quantity of suspected stolen power tools.
"One male is currently in custody whilst the investigation is ongoing.
