A man has appeared in court after allegedly assaulting an emergency worker in Weymouth.

Ryan McLaughlan, aged 36, of no fixed abode, was charged with assault by beating of an emergency worker.

Dorset Police say they received a report of a man behaving aggressively on Grange Road in Weymouth.

Officers attended and arrested McLaughlan who was subsequently charged with assaulting an emergency worker.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: "At 8.56pm on Saturday, September 21, Dorset Police received a report of a man behaving aggressively at The Waterloo pub in Grange Road in Weymouth.

"Officers attended and a 36-year-old man from Weymouth was arrested and subsequently charged with assaulting an emergency worker."

He appeared in Poole Magistrates Court earlier today (September 23), has been remanded in custody, and his case will be heard on Thursday, September 26. No plea has been given.
