The countdown has begun for the revival of a popular rave event which was a hit with young crowds in Weymouth.
Futureland was a 90s dance and rave event for under 18s held at Weymouth Pavilion. Now old faces and new faces are invited to its 18+ revival this year on Saturday, October 19.
The event is organised by Dean Mendenhall who used to DJ at the raves in the 90s.
He said: "This is for such an amazing charity and we hope you can support us.
"These events mean so much to me as this was such a huge part of my life at Weymouth Pavilion and a huge part of hundreds of others. Many marriages have come from these events. Even my brother met his wife there and they now have three children. My wife also used to dance to me DJing!
"These events were always successful and full of love and respect for the music and each other. I feel it is important to bring that back. It's what Weymouth needs with so many nightclub closures around now."
All money raised from the event will go towards the Cancer Research UK shop on St Mary Street, Weymouth.
Mr Mendenhall added: "The reality of this awful disease is it affects so many. There sadly isn’t a week that goes by that I hear of someone impacted by cancer. That’s the sad reality.
"By hopefully creating a successful event and selling all tickets available we can donate all profits direct to them.
"We have such a fantastic team that is dedicating so much free time to help with this event. I’m very proud to be promoting Futureland and I hope it will be a big success"
The headline act is DJ SY who played at one of 90s Futureland raves. He is best known for his fast-paced DJ sets, which often feature a mix of classic and contemporary drum and bass tracks
Other DJ acts performing on the night include Tim Lyall, Pure Klass aka DJ Mystery, DJ Rhythm, 3177O, Swannie, Audio Work aka DJ Selector, Matt Hews and Mark C.
A professional sound system will also supplied by Sanktum Soundsystems and there will be Sign the Si, Barnstorma, Paddy Range and Angel on MCs.
Doors open at 6.30pm and the event will run until 1am.
Tickets cost £20 and are available to buy on the Weymouth Pavilion website: https://tinyurl.com/mt8sxej5
