A Portland man is taking on a mammoth challenge of 365 marathons in 365 days.
Josh Aloft, 29, is a personal trainer (PT) from Portland.
Next year, he is aiming to begin a huge challenge, running a marathon (26.2 miles) on Portland every day for a whole year.
Mr Aloft was diagnosed with depression and anxiety in 2019.
He wants to raise awareness about mental health as well as raising money for the Portland YMCA where he works.
Mr Aloft said: "I want to spread awareness about mental health.
"Unfortunately there were several events in my life that caused me to be diagnosed with depression and anxiety.
"I want to do something huge to prevent other people from being in similar positions or taking drastic measures like suicide. I want people to be able to speak about these things to the correct people.
"Fitness was the only thing that kept me going, becoming a PT was life-changing for me
"I had to do something otherwise it was suicide, fitness kept me going."
Mr Aloft lives on Portland with his fiancée and baby and runs personal training sessions from the Portland YMCA.
He became a PT in 2022 and has been running sessions on Portland for nearly a year.
He is hoping to raise money for the YMCA as a way of giving back to them.
He said: "They helped me massively with my mental health without realising at times.
"They have been huge for me.
"I know they have plans to improve the facilities and it would be nice to be able to help them with that.
"They are all about helping people, they have a cheap rate and they are not worried about earning millions.
"My fiancée thinks I am crazy but she sees the fantastic cause and knows how badly I need to exercise to function normally.
"I have a new baby so the timing isn't perfect but sometimes you can't time these things."
He is aiming to begin the challenge in early 2025.
He added: "I would like to also raise money for Dorset Mind.
"Doing the marathons really is exciting for me, the thought of doing it is keeping me going.
"When I start it will be every day, so it would be lovely if anyone wants to join me on any of the days, even if it is just for a few miles."
