A bomb squad was called after a "possible grenade" was found in Weymouth.
The item was discovered on a track off Dorchester Road in the Redlands area - and led to a cordon being put up and an Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team called to investigate.
It is understood that the track in question was Corfehill, which is opposite the BP garage and runs behind homes in Westmacott Road and Willerby Close and also the Corfe Road estate off Radipole Lane.
The suspected explosive was removed by the experts rather than being detonated on site.
A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: "We received a report at around 1.45pm on Saturday 5 October 2024 of a possible grenade found on a track off Dorchester Road in Weymouth.
"The EOD were notified and attended to deal with the incident.
"The item was removed at around 4.40pm."
