The fire service in Dorset has issued a reminder to people to make sure they check their smoke alarms.
Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service is asking residents in the county to check that their alarms are working and that they have the correct amount for the size of their home.
People are more than twice as likely to die in a fire at home if they haven’t got a working smoke alarm.
Smoke alarms are the easiest way to alert people to the danger of fire, giving them precious time to escape.
A spokesperson for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Do you have enough working smoke alarms in your home?
"The more smoke alarms you have, the safer you will be. At minimum, you should have one on each floor of your home.
"You should always have one where you will hear it when you’re asleep."
