A FILM made in Dorset highlighting how individuals and communities are doing their bit to reduce their impact on the planet is set to inspire the nation.
Creating a One Planet Future for West Dorset, made by WWF-UK, shows how people in the county are bringing their communities together and inspiring others to recycle, use fewer resources and find alternative sources of power and building materials.
The film, made for environmental TV channel green.tv, is using these groups to inspire others around the UK to move toward a One Planet Future, says WWF-UK.
It is split into four parts. Highlights of one section about a recycling rickshaw service known as Bridport TLC, profiled in Greenwatch last month, can be viewed on the Dorset Echo website.
The service helps recycle four tonnes of waste material every week including waste vegetable oil converted into biofuel and used by a local taxi firm. The initiative has reduced Bridport’s carbon dioxide emissions by 70 tonnes in two-and-a-half years.
Head of Campaigns at WWF-UK Colin Butfield: said: “The actions of these pioneering people and communities in Dorset are helping to lessen our impact on the environment.”
