NOW is the time to act on climate change – and win a prize in the process.

The Dorset Climate Change Coalition is inviting people to measure their carbon footprint and discover their impact on the planet.

By doing this people will be entered into a draw to win a Christmas hamper.

The coalition is a group of public and community sector partners working together to help people tackle the growing threat of climate change.

Spokesman Emily Bullock said: “The coalition focuses on the effects climate change is likely to have in Dorset and the difference we can make if we take action now.

“We have set ourselves a target of getting 1,000 people this year to measure their carbon footprint and pledge to reduce it.

“More than 500 have already done this and they have all been entered into a prize draw to win a Christmas hamper of local food.”

She added: “With more than half of UK carbon dioxide emissions coming from personal energy use at home and through the way we travel, people can make a big difference.

“Measuring your carbon footprint is a good way to start understanding your emissions and how you can reduce them.”

Measure your footprint by using the calculator on the website: www.dorsetclimate.org.uk Note down your score and send it to the coalition using the form on the website so you can be entered into the draw.

The winner will be announced on December 1.
