JUST HOW GREEN HAVE YOU BEEN

David Walker, managing director of Weymouth pub broker Pubshop

“WE’RE not as apathetic in the office as we used to be and ensure we don’t leave things on standby overnight. “The office is full of electrical equipment and it will make a difference to energy bills when things are turned off. We’ve also cut down on how much paper we use because of the growth in emails.

“In terms of the pub trade people are becoming more inquisitive about how energy-efficient they can be and wondering how much money they can save.

“Commercial properties now require an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) on construction, sale or let and we’ve been supporting the licensed trade with this. Basically it’s intended to inform potential buyers or tenants about the energy performance of a building so they can consider energy efficiency as part of their investment.

“There’s a lot to take in and I don’t think many people know about it. When the market gets moving more people will become aware of the EPC.”
