On behalf of Weymouth & Portland Chamber of Commerce, Industry & Tourism and the Weymouth Town Centre Group of businesses I should like to offer my most sincere thanks to everyone who contributed towards the switching-on ceremony of Weymouth’s Christmas illuminations.
Main organisers were chamber executive committee members June Chorley and Trevor Matthews but many others ensured a happy and successful start to Christmas.
So it’s thanks to the mayor and mayoress of Weymouth & Portland, Coun Tim Munro and Alison Cocks; Weymouth town crier Doris Eastwood, carnival queen Jamie Asquith, the cast of Weymouth’s pantomime, Weymouth Sea Cadet band and the St Nicholas and St Lawrence School choir.
Thanks also to various departments of Weymouth & Portland Borough Council for their invaluable help before and during the switching-on of the lights.
Though times are not easy, the Chamber wishes all shoppers and business owners a happy Christmas experience in Weymouth & Portland.
George Afedakis, President of the Chamber.
