• A REUNION of the girls and boys of the 1930s from the Westham area and anyone who attended local schools during the war years is planned for Saturday, April 4 at the Victoria Inn, Knights in the Bottom, Chickerell at 7pm.

There will be a private bar and buffet, entrance by ticket only.

The idea for the reunion came about after the recent death of a well-known local character.

Many people expressed their wish for this event and the organiser is expecting a good response.

Stan Groves says, please book early and come along and exchange your fond memories of what was for us a wonderful childhood and to meet friends and former friends and to enjoy good company and conversation.

He also says the famous words, it won’t be over ‘till that fat lady sings, though he hasn’t been able to book one yet, any offers.

Please ring Stan Groves on 01305789849 to book your ticket.

  • NEXT week residents in Westham and Chickerell outskirts of Weymouth will have an opportunity to see the exciting plans for the new community fire station proposed for the old Westhaven School site.

These will be on display at Conifers School, next door to the site, from 3.00pm until 8.00pm on Thursday, March 26.

There will be lots of people around to answer questions and any views expressed will be welcomed before a planning application is made, probably in April or early May.

As well as facilities for the fire station itself the plans will show the facilities they hope to have for improving fire prevention and also the community facilities which will be available for residents to use for a wide range of activities.
