RAIL passengers travelling to and from Weymouth face a much smoother ride.
Engineers have almost completed repair work following a landslip on the line at Upwey.
Damage was discovered on the embankment near Chapel Lane in early December, prompting the ‘up’ line to be closed. Services were soon back to normal but Network Rail continued work to stabilise the affected line and a speed limit was put in place.
Buses replaced some trains over the weekends when one line was closed to allow further work to be carried out. A spokesman for Network Rail said: “All the work is completed and we have been working on a single line to carry out the repair work.
“Major work to stabilise the structure is now completed.”
