I DON'T believe it - just when you thought the coast was clear and cantankerous pensioner Victor Meldrew was long gone, an author needs you to relive those classic comedy moments.

Journalist Richard Webber is keen to hear from anyone who saw the much-loved BBC programme One Foot in the Grave being filmed in and around Christchurch and Bournemouth.

Locations include Tresillian Way in Walkford, used for the exteriors of the Meldrew's home, Bournemouth Central Gardens for some unlikely shots of Victor out jogging, as well as Warnford Road in Boscombe and the Norfolk Royale Hotel in Bournemouth.

"I'd love to hear from anyone involved in the filming, who saw the filming and might have some snaps, and particularly from those people whose houses were used," said Richard.

"It would be great if I could track down the people who owned the houses either side of Victor's. They were used by Angus Deayton's character Patrick and Owen Brenman's character Nick."

Richard is writing a book about the history of the sitcom, authorised by the show's scriptwriter David Renwick.

It will be published by Orion Books next year.

His last book chronicled the history of Hancock's Half Hour, and he also contributes freelance to the Daily Express and TV Times.

"I'm in the early stages of research going through old episodes, setting up interviews," said Richard.

"I wanted to write this because I loved the show and no one had so far written a book about this classic comedy. So I contacted David Renwick and he gave me the go-ahead."

Richard can be contacted on 01643 706990 or e-mail: r.webber@virgin.net.
