TAKE four sporting-mad teenagers, add some sponsorship from the next potential dotcom phenomenon, sprinkle the girls at Poole Speedway and what have you got? The perfect starters!

In a sport of noise and excitement these four really are Girls Aloud.

And with the backing of a new internet channel set to launch later this month, www.grabitnow.com, the club believe they make the perfect team.

The four girls behind the start-line at Poole Speedway are Gemma Middleditch and Laura Gardiner, both 16, and Dionne Taylor and Gemma White, 15 years of age. Organiser Gemma Middleditch, the daughter of Pirates team manager and last year's BBC South Sports Personality-of-the-Year Neil, takes up the story.

She said: "The club had start-line girls before each race at the track, but it looked a bit amateurish and wasn't really what you would expect to see at one of speedway's premier venues.

"I watched and with the help of the girls and sponsorship for the outfits - which are pretty expensive - I felt I could make it a lot more professional.

"We are visual, so I thought a company could get plenty of projection via our clothing.

"The one major drawback for me was the fact my dad is the manager at Poole Speedway. So, I cut out the middleman and went and asked the promoter Matt Ford what he thought about my idea.

"He was really in favour and said he would talk to dad about it. I am pleased to see it has worked out really well and I hope everyone agrees it has added a bit more glamour to the track's presentation."

Gemma and the girls are also indebted to the help of local speedway supporter Max Walker from grabitnow.com who was delighted to sponsor the girls.

Max told the Daily Echo last night: "Grabitnow.com is set to launch later this month and Gemma gave us the idea to sponsor her four sporting mad starting girls at the biggest attraction in the area.

"Grabitnow.com will be a very simple and easy to use shopping website format offering one great deal for one day only."

Dad Neil said: "I'm really proud of her. She has clearly thought this thing through properly and produced a professional outfit with an outstanding sponsorship."
