DORSET and Wiltshire centre Ben Williams scored a try for England Under-16s as they beat their Wales counterparts 15-7 at Hull.

The Bryanston School pupil dived over Wales' line for England's opening try, and with Adam Greendale (Yorkshire) adding the conversion, it levelled the score at 7-7 in the first half.

Greendale gave England a 10-7 lead with a drop goal in the 20th minute and Edward Jackson's (Somerset) late first half try ended the scoring before the interval.

Williams, who like Jackson is a member of the South West representative side, enjoyed an impressive game.

He was joined in the England line up by a second Twin Counties player, Alec Kingham, of Marlborough College, who also had an impressive match in the front row.

England team secretary George Squires said: "Both teams had beaten Italy but this was the first real test for the boys this season.

"It was a really competitive game and we were pleased to win.

"It's always the biggest test for boys of this age to play against Wales and the result will be very satisfying for them."
