A Dorchester mother has made a plea for her son's stolen bike to be returned.

Seven-year-old Zak James-Hill burst into tears after his bright yellow BMX was pinched from the doorstep when mum Sarah James called him in to eat lunch.

Zak, who goes to school in Broadmayne, was only given the Haro Dave Mirra Air 540 as a birthday gift two months ago.

Miss James, 27, of Stinsford View, condemned the person or persons who stole the bike.

Also mother to Finn, five, and Sunshine, two, Miss James said: "Zak only came in for half-an-hour to eat his lunch, and it was taken from the doorstep.

"He is really upset and we have been round everywhere looking for it. It's very distinctive - it's a vivid bright yellow bike, you can't miss it.

"It's covered in stickers, was made for boys aged seven to nine and is worth around £250. Whoever has it I would ask them to return it.

"I hope that if someone has seen it or watched someone else whizzing around on it that they will get in touch with the police."

A spokesman for Dorset Police confirmed the bicycle had been reported stolen and said: "If anyone has any information they should call Dorchester Police Station on 01305 251212."
