LYMINGTON and New Milton manager Ian Robinson lamented a contentious penalty decision in first half injury time as his side's FA Cup dreams were finally extinguished in a titanic battle at Woking.

Robinson's Wessex League braves led the Conference giants and were also level at 2-2 in last night's absorbing FA Cup fourth qualifying round replay before succumbing 4-2 at Kingfield.

But with the game on a knife-edge at 1-1, and a tantalising second half in prospect, Cards striker Alex Tiesse turned inside Paul Morris and slumped to his knees, the referee instantly pointing to the spot.

Linnets' players were incensed and former Arsenal midfielder Ian Selley slotted away the spot-kick to hand the Surrey side the initiative.

Robinson said: "I thought the refereeing decisions were the turning point, especially the one before half-time which was appalling.

"I don't see it as a penalty but he threw himself to the ground pretty quick, you only had to breathe on him and he went down."

"But also their superior fitness showed and I've got no complaints because they went on and beat us but these crucial decisions always come at crucial time."

The referee also booked four Linnets men in a crazy end to the first period, but Ben Thomson drew the Fawcett's Field side level with a penalty of their own after the break before two late goals saw off the New Foresters' challenge.

But for the boss, there was only glowing praise for what his side has achieved in this year's competition.

He added: "I can't knock my team at all and no-one can take what we've done away from us. You're bound to say 'what if?' but we can't reflect or dwell on it because we couldn't have done any more.

"We planned to contain them for the first 20 minutes and we ended up one up and we tried to get the crowd onside which we did.

"I think we've made some friends on the way with the sequence of games that has taken us here and we've come to a Conference side and not let ourselves down."
