WIMBORNE Town became only the second side in the league this season to beat champions Winchester City in a thrilling 3-2 victory at Cuthbury.
In an end-to-end contest Stuart Cannie was probably the happiest player on the park when he produced an excellent run and finish for a solo goal against his former club, to open the hosts account seven minutes before the half time break.
Just four minutes later the Magpies had doubled their advantage when Chris Kennedy was brought down inside the Winchester 18-yard box, resulting in Gareth Barnes firing home from the penalty spot.
Jamie Laidlaw then reduced the deficit for the visitors with his 18th goal of the campaign six minutes after the restart, before Paul Roast restored Wimborne's two-goal cushion with a header from a clever Cannie corner.
Lloyd Webber pulled another goal back for Winchester, who piled on the pressure for a late equaliser in the final few minutes.
Winchester City's Toby Redwood was then dismissed for an alleged head-butt on Barnes and the ensuing melee saw Wimborne's substitute, who was still on the bench, Gary Clark, also being shown the red card by the referee.
Wimborne: Kearn, Plank, White, Kennedy, Roast, Phillipson-Masters, Oldbury, Arnold, Barnes, Cannie, Cooper. Unused subs: Doyle, Clark, Coleman.
