WADE Elliott is set to become the next Cherries player to sign on the dotted line at Dean Court.

The skilful winger is close to agreeing terms on a one-year deal after productive talks with the club this week.

Elliott, who signed from non-league Bashley in February 2000, remains a crowd favourite at Dean Court but saw his first-team options limited towards the end of the last campaign.

After appearing in 23 of Cherries' opening 27 league and cup games, he started just five of the last 24 as Sean O'Driscoll often opted for a more narrow midfield combination.

The 25 year-old, who was linked with a move to Bristol City last season, should now follow hot on the heels of James Hayter and Garreth O'Connor as the latest out-of contract Cherries star to commit his immediate future to the club.

While some minor details need to be resolved before Elliott can sign his contract, there are not expected to be any major hitches.

Talks are ongoing with the remaining five out-of-contract players who are Steve Fletcher, Karl Broadhurst, Shaun Maher, Warren Feeney and Steve Purches.
