FREE agent Wade Elliott has poured cold water over suggestions that he has played his last game for Cherries.

Elliott threw his shirt into the crowd following the club's final-day defeat at Brentford, sparking rumours it could be his farewell appearance.

But the gifted winger, who will be entitled to a Bosman free transfer when his current deal expires at the end of June, has also revealed he gave away his boots at Griffin Park.

Elliott told the Daily Echo: "I gave them to somebody before I realised that we had a game on the Tuesday, and, because I didn't have another pair, I had to scramble around the house to find some for John Bailey's game.

"Throwing my shirt into the crowd was just one of those things and I think a few more of the lads would have done the same if it hadn't been for the pitch invasion.

"We always like to show the fans how much we appreciate their support, but because the crowd and the police horses came on to the pitch, it made it difficult.

"It just so happened that me and Warren Cummings were at that end and were able to go over to the fans when the rest of the lads - probably wisely - decided to get off the pitch pretty sharpish."

Elliott, who started 23 of Cherries' opening 27 league and cup games - but just five of the last 24 - was one of 10 players offered fresh terms by the club last week.

The 25-year-old, Cherries' PFA representative, said: "Sean told the lads who are out of contract that he wants them all to stay and that there is something there for them so really it's just ongoing.

"It's reassuring that the club wants to keep you and it's nice to be wanted. So that's where we are at the moment.

"Sean's been away for a few days on a coaching course which has worked out nicely because it's given everybody a little bit of time to mull things over. We'll probably go to see him and let him know where things stand this week."

Cherries boss Sean O'Driscoll has already said he thinks he may lose players to better offers, although Elliott insists there are also a number of other factors to consider.

Elliott, who was linked with Bristol City earlier this season, said: "If somebody comes in for one of the lads and gives them an offer that's going to set them up for life or make them a significant amount of money then that would be a consideration.

"Nobody in our squad is rich enough or naive enough to say that money is not a factor, but there are other things to consider.

"For a lot of the boys, it's going to be marginal sums here and there and there are other factors that are just as important.

"It's equally important for players to take into account where they think they are going to get the best out of themselves and where they are going to enjoy their football the most.

"I think they like the club, they've enjoyed being part of something over the past two seasons and they are all factors that will come into consideration."
