ESCALATING anti-social behaviour will be top of the agenda at a meeting in Alderholt on May 6.

Local police chiefs will be among key speakers at the event, set up by the village action group.

Newly appointed anti-social behaviour officer for East Dorset District Council Karen Jaggs will outline the council's responsibilities.

And a youth worker, who tackled similar problems in Bath and Wells, has been invited to give the group some positive ideas about what can be done.

Alderholt youth worker Liz Clemas said: "This is a fabulous opportunity for local residents to get together and push for better facilities that will support young people in their community."

East Dorset Community Partnership is supporting the group and providing help with administration, publicity, funding advice and links with organisations which can help.

The meeting takes place in the village hall at 7pm and new members are welcome to join the group.

Meanwhile, councillors in Verwood were tonight due to discuss plans for CCTV in the vicinity of the Potters Wheel car park in the wake of rising anti-social behaviour.

Town clerk Val Bright said: "The district council has agreed to arrange for a new column to be erected in the car park, onto which the Dorset Police camera would be mounted.

"Our CCTV working party has come up with a suggestion for a location which we will put to the police. If the project proves a success councillors may consider erecting more cameras."
