JOBSEEKERS in Dorchester can benefit from a revamped office that offers all services under one roof.

Jobcentre Plus at Vespasian House, in Bridport Road, was officially opened by Guy Tompkins, the scheme's district manager for Dorset.

Town mayor Molly Rennie and local employers also gathered to celebrate the launch.

Staff can now offer local people the combined services provided by social security offices and Jobcentres in a single, integrated area that gives advice and support on jobs and benefits to all people of working age.

Mr Tompkins said: "I think customers in Dorchester will be impressed with the new office and the personal advisory service available to them.

"Jobcentre Plus is not just about a new office, it's about helping people move away from welfare and into a job - giving them the independence that comes from work."

Jobcentre Plus was launched in 2001.

A spokesman for the Department for Work and Pensions, Gill Stockley, said: "We are currently rolling out Jobcentre Plus offices throughout Dorset which offer the full range of services to all clients aged 18 to 65."
