LOVE can find you when you least expect it.

Perennial bachelor Harry Sanborn (Jack Nicholson) has never dated a woman his own age. In fact, if a woman is over 30, he's just not interested.

Harry much prefers the company and attention of younger women and is completely infatuated with his latest sex kitten, Marin (Amanda Peet), who is beautiful and intelligent and doesn't want any commitment from him.

The couple plan a romantic weekend together at her mother's swanky beach house in the Hamptons, New York.

In the throes of passion, age and bad health catch up with Harry and he suffers a heart attack.

Marin's mother, divorced playwright Erica Barry (Diane Keaton), calls for an ambulance and Harry is rushed to accident and emergency where the medics diagnose stress as the major factor in the attack.

Harry is allowed to return to Erica's beach house to convalesce where he surveys the loveless tatters of his life.

Gifted a second chance, Harry discovers an unexpected, burgeoning attraction to Erica.

Unfortunately, Harry has a rival for Erica's affections in the shape of his doctor, Julian Mercer (Keanu Reeves), who is handsome, charming and chivalrous.

Can an old dog like Harry learn new tricks to impress a sophisticated lady like Erica?

Something's Gotta Give is an irresistible romantic comedy dealing with love between men and women beyond middle age.

Writer-director Nancy Meyers has great fun creating a tangle of misadventures for Erica and Harry, from which they can eventually learn to open up and declare their true feelings.

Keaton is radiant as a divorcee who has given up on love and channels her maelstrom of emotions into her work.

Her portrayal of Erica's roller-coaster emotions, which career from comedy to tears in the blink of an eye, is a joy and she sparks brilliantly with Nicholson's suave bounder.

There are some huge belly laughs - Harry accidentally walking in on Erica in the nude - and the verbal sparring between the characters is electric.

Reeves generates a palpable sexual chemistry with Keaton to ensure his thirtysomething medic is a strong rival for Erica's affections.
