Dorchester'S on-off search for another goalkeeper could be back on again after a blunder by Mark Ormerod helped Eastleigh on their way to a fifth round tie at home to Weymouth in the Dr Martens Cup.

Ex-Brighton keeper Ormerod spilled a long range free-kick from ex-Weymouth defender Ryan Ashford to gift the Eastern Division outfit the lead and they went on to win 2-1 despite playing the whole of the second half with only ten men after former Southampton star Nicky Banger was sent off.

By contrast Eastleigh were indebted to their £15,000 keeper Colin Matthews who saved a Matt Hann penalty and reeled off a string of fine saves as Dorchester dominated the second half in atrocious conditions.

"The killer first goal and the penalty save were definitely the turning points of the game," said a disappointed Magpies boss Mark Morris.

"I don't know what is going on in Mark's mind, whether it's panic or pressure, but it was his slip which gave them a goal from nothing. It was probably their first shot and I know the conditions were difficult, but it was one we would be looking to him to save and I know it was one he would expect to save.

"It can't go on so I suppose I shall have to get back on the phone and see if I can come up with someone else to take the pressure off him."

Morris said he thought his side had done enough to win the game.

"We played some decent football given the conditions and we must have had more than half a dozen excellent chances not counting the penalty," he said.

"But our finishing wasn't great and when we did hit the target we came up against an outstanding keeper. His early save against Matt Groves was just superb and he made three or four more when we really should have given him no chance.

"But we have come away with nothing after a game that I felt we should have won comfortably and that seems to be the story week in and week out."

Morris admitted his side had missed the midfield craft of player-coach Matty Holmes who was rested.

"I just can't keep playing him twice a week because if I push him too hard he is going to get injured and be out for a long time," he explained. "I think that would be bad management on my part."
