Double figures for champions elect

Misterton 0 Charmouth 10

GALE-FORCE Charmouth blitzed hapless Misterton in the wind and rain at Unity Lane.

The table-topping Robins also stole a march on nearest title rivals Combe Reserves, who dropped vital points in a surprise goalless draw at struggling Crewkerne A.

Charmouth had no such trouble totting up double figures against Misterton's young guns, who could only hold the visitors' awesome firepower for 23 minutes.

The home side were let off when Ben Brooke had the ball in the net, tucking away Malcolm Darby's scorcher that came back off the bar, but offside was given in the build up.

Goal-ace Brooke did give his team the lead moments later however, credited with a header that fellow marksman Jon Whetlor sportingly admitted had crossed the line before he got a touch.

Brooke took the second goal in his stride from a neat through-ball by Nick Bown, then provided a pass for Darren Poole, who cleverly sent the keeper the wrong way with a witty finish to make it three.

Darby swept in a free kick 10 minutes into the second half that sparked a goal avalanche in the last quarter of the match.

Bown combined with Brooke again for the striker's hat-trick, then Misterton helped out with an own goal after James Connelly had misjudged a cross.

Substitute Danny Parr added the seventh with a good shot before Bown headed in number eight from Darby's corner.

It was 9-0 with five minutes left when Nick Buckland raced through the middle to drill home.

The final say went appropriately to Brooke, who notched a his fourth and Charmouth's 10th, neatly chesting the ball down and slipping it past the keeper.
