POOLE Pottery's quayside shop has been re-united with the famous factory after being bought by the new owners of the business.

But it is likely to move from its current premises within the next six months - possibly to become part of the neighbouring Dolphin Quays complex of shops.

Having already saved the factory a group of investors, led by Peter Ford, have now taken the popular retail shop out of administration.

For Poole the news ends a spell of uncertainty after both the factory and shop were caught in the collapse of the Orb group of companies last year.

The 130-year-old pottery was put into administration last year with crippling debts before the factory was bought by new owners in November.

Bernard Burns, managing director of Poole Pottery, said it will be "business as usual" at the shop in the short term.

A one-year lease has been signed on the premises with administrators PriceWaterhouseCoopers.

Mr Burns said: "We are looking at a couple of other sites without needing to move too far because we do fabulously well on that site."

The pottery shop could be one of the retailers moving into the Dolphin Quays apartment and shops complex currently under construction on the quay.

"I'd expect us to move at some stage in the next six months. We would like to take most of our tenants with us to keep the mix of products fairly similar," said Mr Burns.

The shop is planning a clearance sale over the February 14 half-term weekend.
