STEVE Fletcher helped Cherries chalk up their biggest league win for more than 15 years - but then admitted: "Our dressing room was like a morgue".

Fletcher netted twice for the ninth time in his career as rampant Cherries recorded a remarkable 6-3 triumph over Luton Town to move into second place in Division Two.

And the targetman's double, coupled with two goals from substitute Brian Stock and further efforts from Garreth O'Connor and Wade Elliott, saw Cherries hit six for the first time since Harry Redknapp's side beat Hull 6-2 in February 1988.

But despite helping Cherries to their highest league position for more than five years, club captain Fletcher revealed there was a subdued atmosphere in the home changing room following the final whistle.

He said: "The lads were disappointed to concede three goals. Of course it was great to score six and in any other dressing room, people would probably be jumping for joy but we weren't.

"We got a bit of a talking-to from Sean and Peter at the end, just like we had at half-time. It was a ding-dong game and they don't come along too often.

"It was like basketball, but that's not the way we want it. If it was like that every week, I think Sean and Peter would have kittens.

"It's great to say we didn't play well but still scored six. It was one of those games where the forwards are going to be happy and the defenders are going to be miserable. I think the reaction from the players at the end shows what a professional attitude we've got and it's all because of the way Sean and Peter have brought us up over the last few years.
