THE LIZZIE McGUIRE MOVIE (U)

Like the Disney TV series on which it is based, the movie is a light-hearted romp. Lizzie (Hilary Duff) sets off on a trip to Rome and is mistaken for pop sensation Isabella.

Lara (Angelina Jolie) travels to Greece to track down a map to the location of Pandora's Box, only to have the artefact stolen from under her nose by the henchmen of megalomaniac Jonathan Reiss (Ciaran Hinds). Jolie is in fine shape but there's too much flashy wrapping and little substance.

THE MAN WHO SUED GOD (15)

Former lawyer turned cray fisherman Steve Myers (Billy Connolly) takes on the Supreme Being in court after his boat is destroyed and his insurance company refuses to pay out, using a loophole reserved for an 'Act of God'. The Churches are called to mount a defence, and the Cardinal (Vincent Ball) hires his good friend, Machiavellian lawyer Gerry Ryan (Bille Brown). Sadly, the film reduces a smart, satirical premise to a routine courtroom drama.

AMERICAN PIE: THE WEDDING (15)

Jim (Jason Biggs) and Michelle (Seann Alyson Hannigan) decide to tie the knot, but Jim allows the egregious Stifler (William Scott) to organise the stag night. On top of that Stifler and Finch (Eddie Kay Thomas) ignite a bitter feud over who can bed Michelle's cousin Cadence (January Jones).

PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: THE CURSE OF THE BLACK PEARL (12A)

THE B-Movie plot is anything but watertight, but for all its obvious flaws, Pirates is buoyed up by a great lead performance by Johnny Depp. Also setting sail with Depp are Geoffrey Rush, Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley.

RUGRATS GO WILD (U)
