WEYMOUTH include Frenchman Patrick Polion in their side to face Exeter City in a friendly at the Wessex Stadium tonight, kick off 7.45pm, writes Paul Baker.

The Gaelic centre forward is on trial at the Wessex Stadium following a spell with the Grecians' Nationwide Division Three rivals, AFC Bournemouth.

Terras boss Geoff Butler said: "Patrick spent some at Bournemouth last season and he was a lad I invited up for trials at Salisbury when I was manager there. Unfortunately, we were unable to give him a run out on that occasion for various reasons and so I'm looking forward to seeing him play tonight.

"He lives in London and I've had some very good reports about him. He's got a chance to show me what he can do this evening and if it works out then there may be a future for him at the club."

Another player who'll be handed an opportunity to impress the boss is young front runner, Leon Green, who has so far only figured on the substitutes' bench.

Meanwhile, Butler will be without a host of recognised first team players including John Waldock, Matthew Hale, Toby Redwood, and possibly Mark Robinson and Alex Browne.

The manager explained: "John Waldock is up north on family business but he'll be okay for the league game against Crawley on Saturday. However, the news isn't so good on the others and so I'll being doing my best to field a team this evening that will at least look something like the one that will play at the weekend.

"Toby Redwood has a cracked rib but is already suspended for Saturday, as is Steve Tully. Alex and Mark continue to struggle with ankle and groin injuries respectively and now Matthew Hale's gone down with a knee problem.

"He went to see a specialist in Bath yesterday and it looks like he's tweaked a couple of ligaments. Obviously he's unfit tonight and there are major doubts about the Crawley game."

He added: "But somehow we'll get through it and tonight's match provides us with some much need football following the postponement at Tiverton.

"Exeter will be coming with a strong squad of professionals and it should be a very decent work out for both sides."
