IF the local recreations committee has its way, Lyme Regis Regatta and Carnival Committee will be hit in the pocket if it fails to meet the council's deadline for the removal of the Marine Parade mural in future.
If it is still displayed on the seafront hoarding after October 31, the council will obliterate it and send the bill to the regatta committee.
The committee had consistently failed to remove its fund raising mural on time, although recreations chairman Coun Ken Whetlor says he has some sympathy with the group because of the bad weather.
The mayor, Coun Ken Dibben, agreed with the proposed action at Wednesday's meeting, pointing out that the council had spent a lot of time on the issue without ever achieving what it wanted.
"I think what we are proposing is fair," he added, while Coun Michaela Ellis exclaimed: "I am just fed up with talking about this."
