BUDMOUTH Technology College has been served a McMarvellous £150 after principal David Akers worked at a drive-through for a day.

In a bid to strengthen links between the school and the restaurant Mr Akers donned full McDonald's uniform and volunteered his services to work at the Weymouth fast food store, serving a total of 150 cars.

Restaurant manager Daniel Matthews, now at McDonald's Monkey's Jump branch, said: "We wanted to develop links with education and this was a great way to make a really positive start."

McDonald's donated footballs to the Chickerell Road college and gave £1 for every car Mr Akers served.

Mr Akers said, "I had several customers from Budmouth during the session.

It really was hard work but I enjoyed the experience and the staff at the restaurant were very supportive.

"We strongly believe that industry and business links are very important at the college and this project has helped us to develop yet another partner for our students.

"From the money donated by McDonald's, £100 will go towards buying two new drums for our djembe group and £50 will go towards buying a special scanner for the Evelina Children's Hospital in Southwark, London."
