BRIDPORT have completed the signing of youngster George Leighton from Portland United.
The teenage midfielder, who has been training with the Bees for the last few weeks, has appeared in the Blues first team this season, but has been frustrated at not being able to hold down a regular start.
Portland boss Nick Preston said new signings like Andy Mason and Chris Naylor in midfield have left Leighton down the pecking order.
"George had been making good progress, but after we strengthened our squad he was finding it hard to break into the first team.
"Whilst I am disappointed to lose anyone, especially a young player with a lot of potential, I can understand the reason behind his decision to move on and we wish him well," he added.
Bridport manager Peter Conning was pleased to make the acquisition and said Leighton is one for the future.
"He's a young lad and we'll start him in the reserves with Kevin Donovan to see how he goes.
"I think we have to look at bringing on youngsters like George, Adie Walker and Aaron Thomas for the future of the club.
"We hope that they can improve by playing regular football with the Reserves and they can be pushing for a first team place as soon as possible, but we are also looking at it long term."
