Dorchester Reserves are due to test out the opposition for their first team tomorrow when they visit the County Ground to play Elite Teamwear Dorset Premier League championship challengers Hamworthy United.

The Hammers are scheduled to visit the Magpies' Avenue Stadium next Tuesday to meet Dorchester's Dr Martens League side in the Dorset Senior Cup quarter-final tie that was postponed last Tuesday because of a frozen pitch.

But Magpies Reserves boss Phil Simkin has his doubts whether tomorrow's game will beat the weather even though an overnight thaw is forecast.

"Before it froze I understand they were having to pump water off their pitch which is notoriously boggy at one end and if it does thaw I can imagine it will be a bit of a mess," said Simkin.

"I believe there will be a pitch inspection in the morning, but like everyone else we are desperate for a game."

Second in the league Hamworthy, who were helped by the Magpies goal-less draw at home to Gillingham in their last outing a fortnight ago, may, however, not be too keen to get the game on when they realise the county town club do not have a first-team fixture tomorrow.

For on paper at least they will be considerably stronger than normal with first team squad members Carl Poore, Michael Walker, Simon Radcliffe, Marcus Oldbury, Phil Andrews and Stuart Cooper all included for much-needed action after regular stints on the senior substitutes' bench.
