DORCHESTER film-goers could soon be enjoying double the number of screens at the town's cinema.
Bosses at the Plaza Cinema on Trinity Street have bought the former bingo hall next door and plan to set up two more screens and a wine bar.
The news comes after fears last year that developers were poised to take over the Plaza site and that the cinema would be converted into a block of flats.
Martin Dunn, operations director at Reeltime Cinemas, which owns the Plaza, confirmed the sale had been agreed and that work on the bingo hall would begin shortly.
He said the expansion plans followed increased business after Reeltime refurbished the Plaza's premier screen last year.
