DORSET was bracing itself for the possibility of more snow today as temperatures plummeted below freezing.
Weather experts warned of more wintry showers as after overnight temperatures in Weymouth and Dorchester went down to minus 4 degrees C.
A Met Office spokesman said: "There is more snow on the way, but Dorset should warm up by the latter part of the weekend and hit a mild patch on Monday."
Floodwater at the junction of Weymouth Avenue and Edward Road in Dorchester froze into a 25-foot ice patch overnight, leaving drivers skidding on the ice and slush. A police spokesman urged motorists to take extra care.
Cup football fixtures at Bridport, Dorchester and Portland were called off due to frost and waterlogged pitches.
