BRIDPORT will be dreaming of a tie with the big boys if they can overcome Swanage Town and Herston in the quarter-final of the Dorset Senior Cup at St Mary's Field tonight, kick-off 7.45pm.

The Bees could set up a tasty semi-final with either Weymouth, Dorchester or Portland and Bees boss Peter Conning said his team are taking it seriously.

"Our players are already thinking about a tie with Dorchester and in particular Weymouth. It's a chance for a big scalp and some of the

players will have a point to prove, but Swanage will be thinking the same about us and it won't be an easy game."

Bridport must know however that if they match their Elite Teamwear Dorset Premier opponents for commitment, their superior quality must pull them though.

Swanage currently sit next to bottom in the table, well below the Bees Reserves, winning just one of their 20 matches so far, letting in 68 goals in the process.

Last Saturday's cancelled matches for both the first team and Reserves may tempt Conning into trying out a few players who are short of match practice.

His hand may be forced in some areas, with Nathan Violet now departed and Andy Hitchcock still injured leaving a vacancy on the left.

Defender Tom Gardner is on duty with the Devon youth squad, Adam Rose and Mark Radcliffe

are unavailable in midfield and striker Martin Underhay is banned.

Conning said: "There's several players who we may be able to call on who have done well for the Reserves so I will have a chat with Kevin (Donovan) to see who he thinks can do a job for us.

"It could be a good opportunity for some of them to push for a place in the first team. Lee Pashen was brought into the senior squad from the Reserves earlier in the season and did very well, making the centre half position his own."

Youngster Adie Walker is cup-tied however, having already played for Weymouth Sports in an earlier round.
